Following on from RouteHappy, which was added at the end of 2015 to the TripNavigator air catalogue, Egencia is now tackling urban transport to provide better support for business travellers. The business travel agency took advantage of the Business Travel Show held on 24 and 25 February in London to unveil the aggregation of two new contents that are well known to mobile professionals, namely Uber and Citymapper. The VTC giant and the "new kid on the block" in route management are set to provide travellers with personalised itinerary information. Once located, users will know almost instantly what the best travel options are for getting to their meeting place or airport, with advance knowledge of their arrival time at their destination and the estimated price.
"By partnering with leading mobile applications, we are providing customised travel options directly within the Egencia TripNavigator application," said Michael Gulmann, vice president of global product and marketing for Egencia. "We're committed to finding technology solutions that help travellers meet the challenges they face: busy schedules, the need to comply with corporate policies, and the need to stay efficient without wasting time wandering or waiting in line.
Egencia points out that "45 % of business travellers worldwide consider getting around their destination to be the most complicated part of their trip to manage", and stresses that, "unaware of the other options available to them or simply in a hurry, 70 % of these business travellers choose the taxi queue at the airport by default to get around an unfamiliar city", according to the Business Travel and Technology study carried out by the business travel agency.
