Since 15 May, Emirates has required almost all its passengers to use a digital boarding pass.. The carrier is thus rendering the paper version obsolete for departures from Dubai. Announced on 12 Maythe company said that passengers checking in at terminal 3 of Dubai International now only receive a boarding pass by SMS or e-mail on their mobile phone.
The boarding pass can be loaded using Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or the application Emirates. The baggage check-in receipt is also sent directly by email to passengers or available on the carrier's application.
This initiative considerably reduces paper waste. At the same time, the airline is also offering passengers a fast and convenient digital check-in experience. It reduces the risk of boarding passes being lost or misplaced. A way of offering passengers a more serene journey.
The mobile boarding pass can be used throughout the journey - at Dubai Duty Free, security and boarding, simply by showing the boarding pass on the phone. Emirates agents and airport staff simply scan the boarding pass on the phone. the QR code of the mobile boarding pass as passengers move through the airport and board the aircraft.
Paper document for some exceptions
Emirates does not impose its digital boarding pass on all passengers. Some categories, such as passengers with special assistance, passengers with connections on other airlines or passengers to the United States keep a printed document. The same applies to passengers who do not have a mobile phone or have a problem with their telephone connection. So many exceptions - except sometimes the last one - which should not concern French business travellers...
