Emirates has decided to offer its passengers greater flexibility and a wider choice of options, while allowing them to adapt their travel plans with greater peace of mind, from booking right through to their arrival at their destination. It has to be said that the uncertainty surrounding the Gulf, with an Iran-US conflict that seems unable to find a pause button, is enough to destabilise aviation activity in the region.
Emirates has therefore introduced a series of initiatives, the latest addition being free and unlimited flight date changes to Dubai.
Since 10 August 2026, customers with the UAE as their final destination can change their travel dates as many times as they wish, free of charge, regardless of the fare type booked.
These free and unlimited modifications apply to Saver and Flex fares in Economy Class, as well as Special, Saver and Flex fares in Business Class.
As for Economy Flex Plus, Premium Economy, Business Flex Plus and First Class, the fares remain entirely flexible.
Reduced repayment fees
Emirates has also significantly reduced the refund fees on flights to Dubai. These now amount to 50 USD for Economy Saver fares and 25 USD for Economy Flex fares.
In Business Class, the refund fee is now 50 USD for Special and Saver fares and 25 USD for Flex fares.
All of these measures thus give customers complete peace of mind to adjust or cancel their booking while keeping penalties to an absolute minimum, whatever the circumstances.
However, this near-total flexibility only applies to passengers travelling to Dubai. Nevertheless, for all tickets booked since 2 April, the airline is offering the option of a free date change across its entire network, including on itineraries with a connection in Dubai.
Customers can also hold their fare for 24 hours free of charge while finalising their travel plans.
Insurance valid in conflict zones and additional benefits for Skywards members
In addition to these three benefits, Emirates also offers a home insurance solution, "Comprehensive Travel Cover", a first in air transport. A near-obligation for the Dubai-based airline as international insurers generally no longer cover the Gulf.
This package includes, amongst other things, supplementary cover related to conflict zones with reimbursement of medical expenses up to USD 25,000 and a free extension of stay of up to 30 days. Offered at an accessible price and available in 27 countries, this insurance can be taken out at the time of booking on emirates.com or added to an existing booking via the "Manage a booking" section.
In the event of flight disruption, Emirates directly takes care of accommodation for affected customers. When connections operated by other airlines are affected, or if Emirates services are not available, customers are rerouted to their final destination at no additional cost, including in the case of cancellations due to airspace disruptions.
Finally, Emirates Skywards members enjoy more benefits during their travels with increased flexibility, new opportunities to reach higher tier status more quickly, and additional savings when using their Miles.
Until 31 August 2026, members can benefit from the following advantages:
- 20 fewer Status Miles (%) required to reach Silver, Gold and Platinum status;
- 20 % bonus Status Miles on Emirates and flydubai flights;
- Save even more with Cash+Miles, thanks to a preferential rate of 2,000 Miles = 30 USD, compared to the usual 15 USD, when Miles are used to pay for Emirates or flydubai flights, excess baggage, lounge access or seat selection.
