Bigger, more imposing: Emirates plays superlatives in Bangkok. The Thai capital has just seen the inauguration of thea lounge for premium passengers which, according to the company, is the largest in the world, after those offered at the Emirates hub in Dubai.
The airline has taken advantage of the relatively recent opening of the SAT 1 satellite at the airport. The new structure, inaugurated at the end of 2023, offers much greater comfort than the main terminal, which is somewhat outdated. SAT 1 will be able to handle an additional 15 million passengers a year. This will now include all passengers on flights operated by the Emirati airline.
A large number of Premium passengers in Bangkok
The company has invested $5 million in a lounge covering 1,454 m² and seating 250 people. That's the combined capacity of the premium classes of two Airbus A380s. The lounge features showers, refreshment areas, a workspace and a bird's-eye view of the airport tarmac.
Emirates justifies this gigantic lounge by the very large number of premium passengers on its Bangkok routes. The airline offers some 870 daily seats in First and Business to and from the Thai capital.
This year, Emirates to celebrate 35 years of service in Thailand. The airline operates five daily flights between Dubai and Bangkok, using a combination of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s, as well as one daily flight between Bangkok and Hong Kong. Outside the Thai capital, Emirates offers two daily flights to Phuket.
What's more, Emirates has just announced the launch of its Premium Economy service on the Dubai-Brisbane route. (Australia) on 1 February. The capital of the State of Queensland, Australia's third-largest city, is linked by three weekly flights. Emirates offers 77 flights to five Australian cities (Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney).
