The idea has been gaining ground for several months, if not years, and is now on the verge of becoming a reality. This autumn, the US administration is preparing to test a programme that will allow certain travellers deemed secure to benefit from accelerated procedures at certain airports, provided they supply more information. However, there is no rush: only a privileged few, at certain pilot airports and on certain airlines, will be able to take advantage of this windfall. On 15 September, the Transportation Security Administration announced that Delta Airlines and American Airlines would be the first to benefit from the test phase, at Atlanta and Detroit airports in the case of the former, and Miami and Dallas in the case of the latter. If successful, the approach should then be extended to other airports and other airlines, including United, Southwest and US Airways. However, French business travellers will have to wait: these express checks will - at least initially - only concern US citizens.
