While airports in major business destinations - including Paris - have been competing for several months to offer free or even unlimited wi-fi, the Tokyo authorities are getting in on the act by introducing an equivalent service in the metro. Since 1 December, business travellers and tourists passing through the Japanese capital have been able to connect free of charge to the "Metro_Free_Wi-Fi" network, allowing them to surf for a three-hour session, with an unlimited number of sessions. The service, developed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation, Tokyo Metro Co. and supported by the Japan Connected-free Wi-Fi application, is part of the preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games.
