Carbon offsets are one of the main ways in which companies can mitigate their emissions in the short term, American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) is launching a platform dedicated to carbon offsetting.
As part of their sustainable development objectives, GBT customers can now purchase carbon offsets at preferential rates from the following companies main non-profit organisationsThese include Carbon Footprint and the Carbonfund.org Foundation. The latter, with which GBT, the first TMC to offset 100 % of its annual emissions linked to business travel from 2019, is already associated.
" Carbon transparency is a priority for our partners around the world, as we all collectively strive to building a low-carbon future" said Si-Yeon Kim, Managing Director of Risk and Compliance at the business travel agency. Companies can choose the offset activity they wish to support from a variety of projects, prizes and locations around the world. Customers will receive an electronic receipt for their payments, as well as a personalised electronic certificate showing the amount of carbon credits purchased and retired as a result of their donations.
This possibility of carbon offsets at preferential prices is in addition to the range of sustainable products and services offered by GBT. For example, companies can calculate the carbon footprint of business travel, meetings and events in Neo, GBT's travel and expense management software.
