Hilton is continuing to grow in France at an accelerated pace. From 15 establishments at present, the American group is preparing to double in size by 2022. And this after having already doubled its offer over the last four years. In fact, Hilton is proud to have opened more hotels in France than in the previous three decades, although this has been relatively slow, mainly due to the lack of a dedicated development team. "Hilton has expanded at a record pace in France and we remain committed to sustainable growth"explains David Heijligers, Hilton's Managing Director for Development in France and Benelux.
The main change is the diversification of the range. Until 2017, the group only had two brands in France with Hilton - in Paris, La Défense, Roissy CDG, Strasbourg and Evian - in addition to the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace in Versailles. Since then, four signs joined them in 2018, with the Curio Collection in Paris, DoubleTree by Hilton in Carcassonne and Hilton Garden Inn in Bordeauxthen Hampton Inn in 2019, in Clichy. Two new brands will be introduced this year. "We are delighted to open our first Canopy by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotels, which will offer guests rich, culturally immersive experiences in the heart of Paris."says David Heijligers.
Canopy by Hilton will open in Paris in the middle of the year, a stone's throw from the Trocadero on rue d'Eylau, with a 123-room luxury hotel designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel. "This brand has a strong design accent, with hotels that are real spots in their neighbourhoods."says David Heijligers. The special feature of this brand, which will be opening around twenty new stores by 2020, is to offer business travellers a place to put their suitcases and their luggage. have a shower for early arrivals or late departures. Later, in 2022, the brand will move to the Quartier Latin, near the Jardin des Plantes, the result of the transformation of a historic mansion with an Eiffel-style roof. Offering 150 rooms, the Canopy by Hilton Quartier Latin will have a strong green feel, with a façade covered in climbing plants and landscaped terraces.
Still in the lifestyle category, but with a lower range than Canopy or Curio, the Tapestry Collection will welcome in April its first representative in France, the Belgrand Hotel Paris Champs Elysées. Two other mid-range establishments are also expected this year, the Hilton Garden Inn La Villette and the Hilton Garden Inn Marseille, a 140-room hotel designed by the Wilmotte agency.
In Nice, in a venue designed by Daniel Libeskind, the Iconic buildingThe Hilton Garden Inn brand will take up residence here. Adjacent to the station, this complex will include not only a 120-room hotel, but also an auditorium, offices, cafés and restaurants. It is due to open in the second half of 2021.
"2021 will be a pivotal year for us, with eight planned openingsThe new hotels will be built in France," explains the Managing Director in charge of Hilton's development in France. These include new Garden Inns, notably in Le Havre and Tours, in a hotel project that also includes a Hampton by Hilton. The deployment of all these brands will enable the American group to expand not only in the Paris region, but also in the rest of France. in all major French cities. "We are also targeting attractive cities such as Rouen, Orléans and Dijon."he continues.
A Curio Collection will open its doors in 2021 in Burgundy, within the future Cité internationale de la gastronomie et du vin. The Maison Heler in Metz is also due to open at the end of 2021. This Curio Collection, with its ultra-contemporary architecture, will be crowned on its roof by a typical Lorraine house which will house a restaurant. The man behind this design link between past and present is Philippe Starck, the same man who is designing the future Hilton Tour Eiffel for the American group. In all these developments, Hilton is not forgetting Paris or its flagship brand.
