The lifestyle brand of the IHG Hotel Indigo group is accelerating its growth in Southern Europe, with a new establishment due to open this autumn in Bordeaux and other projects under way in Italy and the Iberian Peninsula.

Located on the Chartrons square, in the heart of the city's bohemian quarter, this 100-room establishment is the result of the transformation of the former Mercure Bordeaux Cité Mondiale after several months of renovation work. This new development symbolises the new momentum of the Hotel Indigo brand. Launched in 2004, the brand took some time to reach the 100 hotels worldwide mark - 143 today - but, with the growing popularity of lifestyle hospitality, it has gone from strength to strength. into high gear. In particular in Southern Europe, where several other developments are expected, but also elsewhere in the world, with recent or forthcoming openings in Exeter in the UK, in Panama and Guadalajara in Latin America, and in Asia-Pacific in Brisbane and Tokyo, a stone's throw from the famous Shibuya crossroads.

These developments are part of a sustained growth with more than 120 establishments in its pipeline. After Bordeaux, five other cities will see the brand appear in the near future, in two other key markets for IHG in addition to France: Italy and the Iberian peninsula. At the end of 2023, the brand will set up in the heart of Florence, with a 160-key hotel, complete with two restaurants and a bar in the inner courtyard. By the end of the year, Turin is also on the programme, with a 50-room boutique hotel in the historic centre of the capital of Piedmont, close to Piazza Castello and the Royal Theatre. Later, in 2025, business travellers will be able to check in at Hotel Indigo Trieste - Palazzo Kalister, in a 19th-century palace converted into a 107-room hotel.

Do new with old This strategy will also be applied in Jerez, Spain, with the transformation of two historic Andalusian buildings into a 78-room hotel.
