Albania

Adorn Tirana - Handwritten Collection (new year)

The Handwritten Collection, part of the Accor group, has set up in the heart of the Albanian capital, a stone's throw from the Selman Stermasi stadium and a five-minute walk from the lively Blloku district, with the boutique hotel Adorn Tirana. Comprising 25 rooms, including six suites, this establishment reflects the myth of Icarus in its design and offers a restaurant and wine bar.

Croatia

Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Kvarner Bay (summer)

A new resort for the Mövenpick brand, with everything you need for relaxation, but also for meetings and incentive breaks. Situated on the Bay of Kvarner, overlooking the island of Krk, the resort offers leisure facilities including a huge wellness centre with indoor and outdoor pools and direct access to the beach, as well as five restaurants. But this hotel with 199 rooms and 304 residences will also offer a choice base for business groups, with three conference rooms of almost 250 m², plus two meeting rooms and a boardroom. 

Opatija Marriott Resort & Spa (autumn)

The Marriott Hotels brand is to make its debut in Croatia with a resort on the Adriatic in Opatija. Featuring 185 rooms and suites, including seven villas with private pools, the contemporary resort will offer indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, five bars and three restaurants, as well as flexible meeting and event spaces for up to 500 guests.

Spain

Mercer Madrid (spring)

The Spanish Mercer group, which runs a number of luxury hotels in Barcelona and Seville in particular, will be making its grand debut this year in the Spanish capital, between the Paseo del Prado and Retiro Park. In a choice location, the former headquarters of the Sociedad General Azucarera de España, built in 1905 by the crown's architect, Enrique Maria Repullés y Vargas, who also designed the Madrid Stock Exchange. Redesigned by RCCyP Arquitectura and the Andreu Carulla design studio to respect its heritage, this historic building will exude contemporary elegance in its 61 rooms and suites. Other attractions for travellers include a bar on the vast rooftop terrace and a sustainable restaurant run by three-starred chef Eneko Atxa.

The Hoxton Madrid (during the year)

The Hoxton is exporting its sense of lifestyle to a new European capital this year: Madrid. The Ennismore brand, a subsidiary of the Accor group, will continue the long history of a hotel ideally located, with its modernist façade stretching across the Plaza Santa Ana. A favourite haunt of bullfighters since the Belle Epoque, in 2004 the hotel became the first of the ME by Melia lifestyle brand. The handover to The Hoxton involved a renovation phase to offer 192 rooms and suites when it reopened, a lounge area in the lobby where guests can work throughout the day, a trattoria and, to top it all off, the Cayo Coco rooftop bar. Plus, for business travellers, signature spaces dedicated to The Apartment meetings and events.

Serras Seville (spring)

A choice future stopover, as much for its location, right next to Seville Cathedral, as for the luxurious hospitality offered by this member of the Legend Collection of Preferred Hotels. The Serras Seville is equally notable for its building, designed between 1915 and 1917 by architect Aníbal González in Andalusian style to house the headquarters of Banco Popular. A polygonal staircase on the outside and a tower with a peak reminiscent of a church dome: these elements of the past are combined with contemporary luxury in this boutique hotel with 43 rooms and suites and three restaurants, one overlooking the street, another in the patio and the last on the roof, next to the hotel swimming pool.

Barceló Valladolid (beginning of the year)

A choice future stopover, as much for its location, right next to the cathedral, as for the luxurious hospitality soon to be offered by this eagerly awaited member of the Legend Collection of Preferred Hotels. But the Serras Seville is just as distinctive for its building, designed between 1915 and 1917 by architect Aníbal González in the Andalusian style to house the headquarters of Banco Popular. A polygonal exterior staircase and a tower with a peak reminiscent of a church dome: these elements of the past are combined with contemporary luxury in this boutique hotel with 43 rooms and suites, complemented by three restaurants, one overlooking the street, another on the patio and the last on the roof, next to the hotel swimming pool. A rooftop with breathtaking views of the cathedral.

Nobu Hotel Madrid (during the year)

Nobu Hotels is expanding its network in Spain with its entry into the capital this year. Already present in Barcelona, Ibiza, Marbella and San Sebastian, the lifestyle chain founded by chef Nobu and backed by actor Robert de Niro will be setting up in the heart of Madrid, at 26 Calle Alcala, between Place des Cibèles and Puerta del Sol, as part of the conversion of a former office building. On the menu: his acute sense of design, but also, of course, trendy restaurant spaces with a bar-restaurant on three levels and another bar on the rooftop.

Greece

Conrad Athens The Ilisian (summer)

While the Hilton group has just launched its Tapestry Collection brand in Athens with the opening of the Anise Hotel Athens, another arrival is in the pipeline, that of its luxury chain Conrad in the Ilisia district. And what an arrival it will be! Within a complex combining nine bars and restaurants, a semi-Olympic swimming pool and an athletics track, but also the private club House of NYNN with bar, restaurant and coworking space, as well as trendy boutiques and luxurious private residences. The result of the metamorphosis of one of the first Hilton hotels in Europe, this contemporary living space is home to a 280-room and suite Conrad hotel with vast meeting and event spaces, including a 1,000 m² ballroom and another of over 300 m², as well as meeting and executive committee rooms.

Italy

Hyatt Regency Rome Central / Thompson Rome (first half-year)

The Hyatt group is pulling out all the stops in Rome this year, starting with the opening of the Hyatt Regency Rome Central, a stone's throw from Termini station. The result of the takeover of the former Radisson Blu Es, reinvented by Studio Moren and Studio Aela, this hotel will offer 238 rooms - including 20 suites - some with balcony or terrace. To make the most of the sunny days and the view, the hotel will have a key location, the largest multi-experience rooftop in Rome (pictured here). Called the Piano Sette, the 2,200 m² rooftop features a Japanese table, an Italian-American bar, a spa and a heated semi-Olympic swimming pool. For business travellers, this is complemented by over 1,000 m² of meeting space. At the same time, another brand, Thompson Hotels, will be revolutionising the former headquarters of the Italian Communist Party by infusing its 1930s-era walls with its luxury lifestyle spirit, with 69 rooms and three bars and restaurants, including a rooftop cocktail bar.

Corinthia Rome (first quarter)

The Corinthia luxury group is investing in the former headquarters of Italy's central bank, housed in a neoclassical palazzo dating from 1914, to transform it into a luxury boutique hotel with 60 rooms, including 21 suites, some with terraces when one of them retains the original frescoes and ceilings designed by the architect Bargellini. Close to the Pantheon, the hotel will also offer a cocktail bar and a restaurant run by Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco.

Experimental Rome (summer)

Known for its lifestyle DNA, the Experimental group will be setting up shop in June in the heart of Rome, on via Ludovisi, between via Veneto and piazza di Spagna. This will be achieved by transforming an office building redesigned by interior designer Rodolphe Parente. The hotel will offer 83 rooms and suites, a rooftop swimming pool and, in line with the group's focus on F&B, a restaurant and cocktail bar.

Rosewood Milan and Rosewood Rome (during the year)

The headquarters of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro in Rome, the palazzo of the Banca Commerciale in Milan: Rosewood Hotels has made some judicious investments to make its entry into Italy's two main metropolises. In the capital, the group is taking over three buildings strategically located on Via Veneto, all dating from the 1900s, to create a 155-room complex, including 50 suites, enhanced by a bistro, bars in the lobby and on the roof terrace, as well as three meeting rooms and a ballroom. In Milan, the luxury brand that runs the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris will be moving into the Fashion Quadrilateral, revisiting the headquarters of the Commercial Bank of Italy, which dates back to the 19th century.^e century to create a luxurious cocoon of 70 rooms, including 20 suites.

Six Senses Milan (end of year)

Six Senses will be setting up in Milan next year in the arty Brera district, just opposite the Pinacoteca, through the transformation of a historic building reinvented in a contemporary way. This future luxury hotel from the IHG group will offer 68 rooms, including 15 suites, two of which will have a private mini-pool. Guests will also have access to a rooftop swimming pool surrounded by a bar.

voco Parma e Congressi (spring)

A new business hotel for IHG's contemporary voco brand. The Hotel Parma & Congressi will join the voco brand next spring, offering business travellers one of the largest conference centres in the Parma region, with 850 m² of space in addition to 166 rooms. At the same time, they will find a panoramic restaurant and an outdoor swimming pool.

Hotel Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel (mid-year)

The legendary Hotel Danieli, an august neighbour of the Doge's Palace, needs no introduction. Or, rather, we are re-presenting it after a few years of work prior to its transfer to the Four Seasons group. Revamped by Pierre-Yves Rochon, the hotel will initially offer 120 rooms, including 52 suites, rising to a total of 170 rooms, including 79 suites, next year. The hotel will also have a MICE area of almost 850 m².

Orient Express Venezia at Palazzo Donà Giovannelli (spring)

The Orient Express brand, relaunched by the Accor group both on land - with trains and hotels - and at sea - with a luxury yacht due to take its maiden cruise in the Mediterranean next June - will see its second establishment in Venice this spring, following the one inaugurated in Rome last year. Established in the former residence of the Duke of Urbino and the Donà and Giovannelli families, this new Orient Express is the fruit of the meticulous renovation - over a period of eight years and under the guidance of interior designer Aline Asmar from Amman - of this 15th-century palace.^e It has been transformed into a hotel with 47 rooms and suites.

Malta

Romègas Hotel (spring)

A dive into history. Located in the heart of Valletta, this luxury boutique hotel, with just 23 rooms and suites, is housed within the historic walls of the palace built five centuries ago for the knight of Malta Mathurin Romègas, whose baptismal name was Mathurin d'Aux de Lescout, originally from Gascony. With its carved stone facade, traditional Maltese balconies, wood panelling and terrazzo floors, this historic building has been meticulously restored under the direction of EM Architects and the Camilleri Paris Mode design agency to create a place that is both contemporary and authentic, with a pleasant rooftop swimming pool and a restaurant run by Maltese chef Marvin Gauci.

Montenegro

Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Teuta Kotor Bay (beginning of year)

Early this year, the Mövenpick Group's upmarket brand will set up shop in the Bay of Kotor with an 85-room hotel featuring a private beach, restaurants and a wellness centre. Still along the Adriatic, almost at the entrance to the bay, the French group will be adding a new hotel under the Angsana brand, the Centrale Lustica Bay.

Pullman Kolašin Breza (summer)

Pullman is heading for the mountains with the first five-star hotel in Montenegro's main ski resort, Kolasin, for a leisure complex with 144 rooms and 17 flats, all with balconies from which to admire the mountain scenery. In addition to restaurants, a wellness area and an indoor swimming pool, the Pullman Kolasin Breza can also accommodate business groups with several meeting rooms.

Crowne Plaza Budva (summer)

The Crowne Plaza business brand has found a prime location in the seaside resort of Budva, on the Slovenska obala promenade, facing the Adriatic Sea, which guests can admire from the hotel's terrace. Renovated, the hotel will offer 81 rooms, as well as ample space for meetings and events, from board meetings to conferences.

Portugal

Andaz Lisbon / The Standard Lisbon (current year)

Already established in Lisbon with a Hyatt Regency in the Belem district, the Hyatt group will be opening two new lifestyle hotels in the Portuguese capital this year. The first will open in the first quarter, a stone's throw from the Praça do Comercio, in what were once the offices of the Banco Portugues de Investimento, with a 170-room and suite Andaz (pictured here) featuring lively venues such as the Andaz Lounge on its roof terrace and a signature restaurant extended by a lounge bar. Recently acquired by Hyatt, The Standard brand is also expected to open its doors in the Alfama district, transforming the former Portuguese naval hospital, the Palacio Santa Clara, dating from the 19th century, into a luxury hotel.^e century, into a design hotel with 197 rooms and suites. Its assets: its roof terrace and gardens, with panoramic views over the whole of Lisbon as its focal point.

Miraparque Lisbon, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel (autumn)

Already well represented in Lisbon and the surrounding area, with recent openings including the Moxy Alfragide Lisboa and a long-stay Residence Inn, this year the Marriott group will be adding its Tribute Portfolio brand through a new member, the Miraparque Lisbon. Located close to the Eduardo VII Park, this establishment will offer 98 rooms, as well as a rooftop with swimming pool and bar.

Experimental Porto (autumn)

As part of its international expansion, the Experimental group will be taking its first steps in Portugal with the acquisition, by investor Extendam, of Porto's first five-star hotel: the Infante Sagres. Opened in 1951, this boutique hotel with its wood panelling and stained glass windows is to be redesigned under the guidance of designer Dorothée Meilichzon. Located in the centre of Porto, near Sao Bento station, the hotel had 85 rooms and suites, a restaurant and bar, a terrace with swimming pool and three meeting rooms before it was closed for renovation.

Turkey

Hilton Istanbul Airport (autumn)

The Hilton brand will be landing at Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport later this year. Located just a few steps from the terminal, it will offer business travellers in transit 485 rooms and suites and an executive lounge, several catering options and an indoor swimming pool, while positioning itself to host business meetings straight off the plane with seven rooms for executive committees and two conference rooms.

Citadines Centric / Citadines Neba Garden Istanbul (during the year)

After setting up in Istanbul last year with an aparthotel in the Maslak district (pictured here), the Citadines brand is continuing its expansion in the Turkish metropolis. The Ascott group chain is expecting two new establishments, both on the European side of the city. Adjacent to the Fatih metro station, not far from Istanbul Ataturk airport, the Citadines Neba Garden Istanbul will offer 150 keys. Another aparthotel will open its doors in the Bahcelievler district, close to the World Trade Center Istanbul and the country's largest exhibition centre, the Istanbul Expo Center. Located in the Centric Istanbul shopping complex, the Citadines Centric Istanbul will have 167 studios. The brand will also be arriving in the seaside resort of Antalya by the end of 2026.
