The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is worried. Its September results nevertheless show an increase in passenger traffic (4.1%) compared with 2011: insufficient for IATA, which points to a slowdown in growth over the last few months. "The pace of growth in air travel began to slow in the second quarter, with no growth in passenger traffic between April and August", the association sums up, adding: "Annual comparisons are now also beginning to show a slowdown in the rate of growth". The year-on-year growth rate was 5.3% for August and 6% at the start of the year.
