Strikes: Iberia, Lufthansa, same battle

The week has begun as it ended for Iberia and Lufthansa. Both airlines are affected by strike action which has led to the cancellation of a large number of flights on the European network.

More than 200 flights cancelled on Monday at Lufthansa, 156 at Iberia: the two strikes continue to disrupt traffic at the German and Spanish airlines. Lufthansa is the victim of a third day of strike action by air traffic controllers at Frankfurt airport. Other European airlines - including Air France, Swiss and Air Berlin - are also affected, but to a lesser extent. Iberia, for its part, has to contend with the pilots' revolt, fanned by the launch of a new low-cost airline in the coming weeks: Iberia Express. The next date is 24 February, when Iberia is due to hold another one-day strike.
