Iberia is getting ready to give its frequent flyer programme a facelift: points, now called "Avios", should, according to the airline, offer easier access to top-level cards. From 16 November, the 4.7 million or so travellers who are members of the Iberia Plus programme will earn points according to the actual distances travelled, rather than by geographical area. The recalculation of Avios points should also benefit business travellers in the longer term: customer accounts will now only expire after 36 consecutive months of inactivity.
