Lufthansa increases fuel surcharges

Lufthansa is increasing its fuel surcharge from Tuesday 28 February - to €4 for flights within Europe - as the strike at Frankfurt airport continues to disrupt the German airline's traffic.

As a result of the rise in fuel prices, Lufthansa is passing on the surge in prices on its tickets: the fuel surcharge is increasing by €4 in Europe, and by €12 on long-haul flights. The Middle East and part of Africa should be spared the increase. The German carrier's announcement comes against a chaotic backdrop: on Tuesday, the airline was once again forced to cancel almost 150 flights at Frankfurt airport due to a strike by air traffic controllers.
