The new Euroduplex TGVs will start operating on the Paris-Geneva route on Sunday 29 December, with departures from Paris at 12.11 and 19.11 and from Geneva at 6.12 and 16.29 respectively. Two years after the introduction of these "3rd generation TGVs" designed by Alstom, the Lyria network intends to move upmarket by introducing "a range of additional technologies and services". The new trains, which have a top speed of 320 kph, are equipped with power sockets in all classes, and provide real-time information on screens in each carriage. Initially postponed, the launch of the Euroduplexes has finally been made possible by "the diligence of the Swiss federal administration", the press release emphasises, with the Ministry of Transport having initialled the authorisation to run between La Plaine and Geneva.
