Even before his big debut in Asia next September in Singapore, Mama Shelter is looking to the Orient with a second address in mind. By 2029, the lifestyle brand will be bringing its fun, offbeat spirit to Bangkok. It will be one of the brand's largest hotels, if not the largest, with a total of 578 rooms.

The future Mama Shelter Bangkok Platinum is part of the development of a new shopping destination in the Thai capital, The Platinum Square. In addition to the tower housing the hotel, this 48-storey mixed-use development will feature a shopping centre at its foot, which is set to become the temple of local fashion. Built around the "Spectrum of Fashion" concept, the shopping mall will bring together the country's leading brands and operators.

Developed by the Platinum Group, this project aims to ". revitalise Thailand's fashion sector, both wholesale and retail, reinforcing its status as the leading fashion hub in ASEAN "said Surachai Chotjurangkool, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the retail and hospitality conglomerate. Located in the Pratunam district, this development complements another shopping mecca opened next door in 2006, Platinum Fashion Mall. In other words, one of the biggest shopping centres in South-East Asia, with over 2,500 shops and, on the accommodation side, already an Accor Group hotel, a recently redesigned 288-room Novotel, whose occupancy rate in 2024 was close to 95%.

The foundation stone for the Platinum Square complex was laid last April.

While shopaholics will find an ideal new base at Mama Shelter, its clientele should also include industry professionals, buyers, wholesalers and manufacturers. This may explain the presence in the future hotel of over 300 m² of meeting space and 210 m² of private dining space. With a restaurant, poolside bar, DJs hosting Mama Nights and a Mama Play area dedicated to arcade games, the rest of the hotel's offering will reflect the brand's festive fundamentals. All this just a few minutes' walk from the Siam and Chidlom BTS Skytrain stations, pending completion of the Orange MRT line, scheduled for 2030, which will make access even easier.
