Special report - Business tourism: the need for training

Marie-Laure Puynesge, Managing Director Carlson Wagonlit Event

What role does training play in your company?

M.-L. P. : It's very important. There's nothing like training to open up new horizons! It's an integral part of our corporate culture. What's more, at the request of our customers, our business is forced to evolve.

How do you manage it?

M.-L. P. : As part of an international group, we have an integrated training department that listens to our needs. As a result, every year our employees benefit from an average of one week's training on a wide range of subjects.

What are your main areas of training?

M.-L. P. : Our aim is to increase the added value of our teams while improving their quality of life within the Group. Our training plan has three distinct strands: training in communication techniques (graphic design, set design, copywriting, etc.); sessions focusing on new technological tools. Finally, there are more general training courses, for example on stress management and conflict resolution, which, as well as being a plus for the company, provide each employee with an insight into the consequences of his or her behaviour in interaction with his or her social, family or professional environment.
