T for Turkey or Thailand: the Marriott group seems to love countries whose name begins with T, with a host of projects here and there, notably in Istanbul and Bangkok.

With 48 hotels in Turkey, including around thirty in Istanbul alone, the Marriott group is not entering uncharted territory. However, the American hotelier has no intention of stopping there. Its expansion plan will soon include the opening of 13 new hotelsfor a total of 2,000 rooms. Contracts have recently been signed for several of its brands, starting with the budget brand Fairfield Inn by Marriott, which will be entering the country through the main gateway: Istanbul.

Expected to open in 2025, this project will also include a Residence Inn brand extended-stay property, with 90 flats in addition to the 192 rooms at the Fairfield by Marriott Istanbul Yenibosna. The same a 'combo' strategy between long- and short-stay accommodation will be applied to another launch expected in 2026 in the centre of the Turkish metropolis. Integrated into the Piyalepaşa Istanbul mixed-use property development, a Residence Inn will this time be accompanied by the Courtyard by Marriott mid-range brand, with the two properties combined offering a total of 329 rooms.

As the hotel group most involved in the "extended stay", Marriott has recently launched Marriott Executive ApartmentsThe Marriott Executive Apartments Istanbul Fulya are the first to open. The first opening, the Marriott Executive Apartments Istanbul Fulya, will be followed next year by two new establishments, the Marriott Executive Apartments Vadistanbul and the Marriott Executive Apartments Istanbul Tema.

However, the American group, which last year opened the luxurious JW Marriott Hotel Istanbul Marmara Sea in the Atakoy district, can also count on its classic hotel brands to expand its offering in Istanbul. The lifestyle chain Tribute Portfolio is due to open a hotel in the famous Taksim Square by the end of the year. For its part, Delta Hotels by Marriott, growing fastThis year saw the signing of the 78-room Delta Istanbul Karakoy, due to open in 2024, the same year as the planned opening of a mid-range lifestyle hotel under the Aloft brand, also in the Karakoy district.

At the same time, one of the Sheraton hotels has passed the torch to the group's flagship brand, Marriott, at the helm of the Istanbul Marriott Hotel Pendik. As for Sheraton, next year it will be opening a hotel in Usak, one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. expected developments in the region with the Moxy Izmir Turan and an Autograph Collection in Cappadocia.

T for Turkey, but also T for Thailand: the American group seems to have a penchant for countries beginning with the letter T. After celebrating the opening of its fiftieth hotel in the former kingdom of Siam, the Madi Paidi BangkokA new member of the upscale Autograph collection, Marriott plans to add 10 more hotels in the country by the end of 2024.

In a more classic style, the Courtyard brand will set up shop at Suvarnabhumi international airport from the end of 2023.

As part of these developments, Courtyard is also expected to open in Phuket next year. The American hotelier will also strengthening its resort offering with Le Méridien Phuket Mai Khao Beach and a Marriott hotel expected in 2024 in the seaside resort of Khao Lak.
