Meininger: setting sights on 50 addresses... and business travellers

Buoyed by the good results recorded in recent months, Meininger plans to resume its offensive in Europe with the ambition of reaching the symbolic milestone of 50 hotels by 2030.

Upon opening its first Spanish address on 25 June near the Barcelona congress centre, Meininger has sent a message. The hotel group is back with new ambitions, having not inaugurated a new establishment since 2023. It must be said that recent results seem to offer assurances of stability to the German group, which exceeded 200 million euros in revenue for the 2026 financial year – between April 2025 and March 2026.

" We have recorded solid growth in our revenue and profit compared to the previous year. » summarizes Ajit Menon. The CEO of Meininger Hotels continues: « We have maintained our performance in a challenging environment, marked by rising living costs and weaker demand due to the absence of major events. This solid progress underscores the structural robustness of our business model, as well as the commitment of our teams. ".

A performance that is prompting Meininger to extend its hybrid concept combining hotel and hostel to new destinations. The German group currently operates 37 establishments in 27 cities across Europe, offering 6,000 rooms and around 21,200 beds. However, this portfolio is set to grow significantly: Meininger plans to reach 50 hotels by 2030. Openings will particularly focus on Southern and Eastern Europe, according to the roadmap unveiled by the group in early July. In France, a new site is expected in Strasbourg in 2027. Renovation work will also continue. After Frankfurt, Berlin, Salzburg, Amsterdam or Copenhagen, works are planned at Paris, MarseilleMunich and Vienna, and this from 2027.

" Our new establishments are increasingly setting the benchmark for the entire portfolio. » says Thomas Hagemann, COO of Meininger Hotels. « We are selectively transferring these teachings to our existing establishments and developing them continuously. This is not just about modernisation, but above all about creating a welcoming atmosphere and a consistent customer experience. In this way, we ensure that the Meininger standard remains noticeable in all our establishments. ".

Dedicated improvements for business travellers

Alongside this expansion, Meininger plans to enhance its customer journey, particularly through new technologies. The rollout of the digital key card – or Mobile Key – is therefore presented as a priority for 2027, allowing travellers to access their rooms using their smartphone. Furthermore, the brand's management intends to strengthen its offering for business clientele. It specifically mentions improvements in B2B integration, payment processes, and web and self-service functionalities intended for groups and business customers.
