Pilots' strike: more than a third of Iberia flights cancelled

A new strike - the second in less than a month - forced Iberia to cancel 36% of its flights this Thursday.

In all, Iberia was forced to cancel some 118 flights on Thursday 29 December, following the disruption caused by the pilots' strike. These cancellations were in line with the Spanish carrier's forecasts, which a few days earlier had announced a cancellation rate of 36%. The pilots are protesting against Iberia's plans to launch a new low-cost airline, Iberia Express, in 2012.
