It's another of New York's historic heavyweights to have undergone a makeover: the New York Marriott Marquis has just completed its renovation after that, unveiled in autumn 2021, of the Hilton Midtown, one of the city's iconic hotels, opened in 1963 and boasting 1,878 rooms and a huge MICE area of almost 14,000 m2.

Opened in 1985 as part of the transformation of the Times Square district, this hotel at the epicentre of the beating heart of New York life occupies a pre-eminent place in the American group's offering. The New York Marriott Marquis, for example, is described as " the heart of our Marriott Hotels brandwith over 600 establishments worldwide "by Drew Iddings, Vice President and Global Brand Manager, Marriott Hotels.

Transformed rooms, redesigned public areas and restaurants, newly designed MICE facilities: several million dollars were spent on this vast renovation, all under the leadership of the architectural and interior design firms Stonehill Taylor, for the public and event spaces, and Sawyer & Company, for the rooms and suites. The work was on a massive scale, since, with its 1,971 roomsThe New York Marriott Marquis is one of the city's largest hotels.

While the hotel's renovation concept revolves around one theme, the "kaleidoscope of energy", " the end result is a design that perfectly balances playful elegance and interactive experiences with flexible and varied seating, strategically open but distinct zones, and an artistic New York theme that runs throughout the hotel" said Sara Duffy, Director at Stonehill Taylor.

On the eighth floor, the impressive lobby has been redesigned, with reception desks moved to open up a wall and bring natural light into the lobby. As for the 1,971 rooms, they add to their new modern design top-of-the-range amenities such as high-definition televisions, larger wardrobes and extra-large showers, complemented by travellers' access to content developed by TED, as part of the partnership between Marriott Hotels and this conference specialist.

In addition, the renovation of the hotel has given us the opportunity to revisit our gastronomic experiences with three new restaurants. Among others, the New York Marriott Marquis offers the Broadway Lounge with its wood-fired pizzas and craft cocktails, extended by an outdoor terrace, or the Revel & Rye Bar and Restaurant, complete with a whisky bar.

Given its location and the breadth of its offering, which, all other things being equal, is reminiscent of what the Pullman Montparnasse in Paris, the hotel is a key business hub in the city. In this context, its VIP lounge, the newly redesigned M Club, can accommodate almost 200 people. Accessible to high-status travellers on the Marriott Bonvoy programme, this lounge offers a range of takeaway food and beverages, a library, a business centre, shared work tables and a number of recharging stations.

On the MICE side, the Broadway Ballroom is the hotel's " the city's largest ballroom" according to Marriott, with capacity for 2,800 people. Equipped with a new state-of-the-art sound system, it sets the tone for a huge meetings area, located on the first floors of the building and featuring 48 meeting rooms. In addition to new carpets and wall coverings for all these rooms, the New York Marquis Marriott is adding a new feature with the extension of an open space under an atrium - The Terrace - to serve as an additional functional space for events.

The New York Marriott Marquis offers almost 50 rooms for meetings and events.
