There was Air Bretagne, British Island Airways, Jersey European Airways and many other carriers which, for decades, provided an air link between Paris and the Channel Island of Jersey. While its neighbour Guernsey has had two weekly flights back since 2024 to Paris-CDG operated by Alderney Air Services, Jersey continued to lament the lack of direct services to the French capital.
Finally, the 22 Maythe company Blue Islands will relaunch this historic link. Every Monday and Thursdaythe Jersey-based carrier will operate a ATR72-500 with a capacity of 68 to 72 seats will take off from CDG at 3.05pm on Mondays and 5.20pm on Thursdays. The flight lasts one hour and twenty minutes. Direct flights will nevertheless be seasonal, lasting until 30 October, before returning in 2026.
Matt Thomas, Chief Executive of Ports of Jerseysaid: " We are delighted to launch this new service to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport with Blue Islands. It marks an important step in improving our connectivity to Europe. The route is supported by the Jersey Government's Enterprise Scheme and will operate for at least the next two years. We hope the route will prove popular with Islanders and we will be working closely with Visit Jersey to promote the Island to potential visitors from Paris." .
Jersey subsidises airlines and tourism
Blue Islands is indeed benefiting from £2 million in overall funding from the local government to attract new airlines to the Channel Island.
The Visit Jersey tourist office has also secured £4 million for an international marketing campaign. In 2024, almost 500,000 visitors generated 2.16 million overnight stays on the island. France is the leading foreign market of Jersey representing 14% of all arrivals in 2023. However, the lack of flights gives air a market share of only 1%. While the Ile de France region generated only 6% of the total number of French visitors to Jersey.
