It is therefore a mixed picture that the international air transport association is publishing at the end of November, with two intersecting trends during October: the decline in freight traffic (-4.7% compared with October 2010) contrasts with the good performance of passenger traffic (+4.6% over one year). Europe even outperformed this overall trend (+6.4%), despite the economic difficulties in the Eurozone. This trend does not reassure IATA's management: "Europe accounts for 29.2% of global air traffic, which suggests that the current momentum in air travel is based on fragile foundations", according to Tony Tyler, the association's Director General.
