Iberia pilots strike, but find allies

Spanish carrier Iberia's traffic will be disrupted by a strike launched by its pilots on 18 and 29 December. Nevertheless, Iberia seems to have found a solution, signing agreements with thirty other airlines to offer its passengers alternatives.

The pilots are protesting against the launch of a new low-cost airlineIberia Express, due to be launched in 2012. This third low-cost subsidiary - after Vueling and Air Nostrum - would, in their view, threaten working conditions within the group. The impact of the strike should nevertheless be mitigated by Iberia's strategy, which has just announced the signing of thirty partnerships with other airlines, which will replace the Spanish carrier on 18 and 29 December.
