Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY to land in Europe in the coming weeks. Of which Paris from 15 July. It intends to take advantage of the reopening of transatlantic traffic in the coming weeks to establish itself as a new alternative.
The company wants to follow in the footsteps of the former Icelandic carrier WOW Air. The latter went bankrupt in 2019.
Just after obtaining his operational certificate, low-cost airline PLAY to launch its first flights between Europe and Keflavikits base in Iceland.
PLAY uses aircraft Airbus A321neo equipped with a single class offering 192 seats. Three aircraft will join the fleet over the summer. This will enable the launch of several destinations across Europe from June onwards.
The schedule of routes served by PLAY includes London-Stansted (June 24), Tenerife (June 29), Berlin (July 2), Alicante (July 13), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (15 July), Barcelona (16 July) and Copenhagen (July 22). Four weekly flights to Paris are on sale (Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday).
In early 2022, PLAY also plans to launch new routes to North America, offering an alternative to scheduled carriers. On board PLAY, everything has to be paid for- except for a small piece of hand luggage. A subtlety worth knowing!
