Crisis improves punctuality for US airlines

The covid-19 pandemic will have had at least one positive effect for American passengers: the punctuality rate was at its highest in 2020, according to federal aviation statistics.

480 million passengers by 2020 against 927 million one year earlier on American airlines. Of which only 36 million on international routes. This compares with 115.4 million passengers the previous year. The covid has of course had a devastating effect on air transport in the United States, if the statistics published by the US Department of Transportation are anything to go by.

American airlines have 4.72 million domestic passenger flights over the whole of 2020. A fall of 41 % compared with 7.94 million flights in 2019. The load factor has fallen sharply...
