The Saudi authorities plan to open all land, sea and air borders completely of the Saudi kingdom from 31 Marchfollowing the closures caused by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
A new directive will then authorise its citizens and legal residents to travel outside the Kingdom. This measure will finally allow international commercial flights to resume.
However, the international travel and cross-border traffic will continue to be subject to restrictions related to the covid-19 pandemic. For foreign visitors, only holders of a valid entry/exit, work or residence visa may enter the Kingdom. Tourist trips of any kind are still prohibited.
To visit Saudi Arabia, travellers must present a negative Covid-19 test less than 72 hours old before departure. Failure to do so will result in the passenger being denied boarding. Passengers must also complete a health liability waiver form. They must also download and register for tracking applications Tatamman' and 'Tawakkalna' before their arrival in Saudi Arabia.
All arrivals are subject to a maximum of seven days quarantine at home. However, the quarantine period can be reduced to three days after completion of an additional covid-19 test.
Air services resume between Saudi Arabia and Qatar
In addition, the lifting of the embargo between Saudi Arabia and Qatar results in resumption of air services between the two countries.
The company Qatar Airways is once again offering a daily flight between Doha and Riyadh. This will be followed by four frequencies a week to Jeddah on 14 January and a daily flight to Damman from 16 January. Saudia offers a daily service to Doha with four flights a week from Riyadh and three flights a week from Jeddah.
