This is bad news for passengers taking off from France.Singapore airport, Changi. From 1 November, higher airport charges will affect passengers departing from Changi Airport.
Passengers on flights departing from Changi currently pay a departure charge of 52.30 $ (€37.11). This consists of a charge of 35.40 $ (€25.12) for passenger services and security, collected by the Changi Airport Group (CAG). To this must be added an aviation tax of 6.10 $ (€4.33) and an airport development tax of 10.80 $ (€7.66), collected by the government.
Three increases by 2024
With the increases announced on 15 September, passengers will now have to pay 6.90 S$. Let a total passenger fee of $59.20 (€42) from 1 November. This will only be the first step.
A further increase is scheduled for 1 April 3. This will be followed by a further increase of USD 3 in April 2024.. At that time, taxes payable by passengers departing from Singapore will reach €46.26.
However, there are a number of reasons for this, Passengers whose tickets were issued before 1 November will not be affected by these increases. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the CAG made this clear in a joint statement.
Other passengers not affected by these increases: transit passengers. They will continue to pay only a transfer tax of 9 S$ (€6.40).
Airlines will also have to pay more parking fees and higher landing taxes, according to CAAS and ACG.
