" Committed to creating a more sustainable for air transport" , KLM announced the abolition of the 29 March 2020 a daily rotation between the airports of Brussels Zaventem andAmsterdam Schipholreplaced by 25,600 seats in Premium or Standard class on board TGV Thalys. The Dutch company, which currently operates five flights a day - in 50 minutes - between the two airports, which are only 200 km apart, will gradually eliminate all pre- and post-shipment flights for passengers on its international routes. This decision has been made easier by the existence of Thalys connections between Brussels-Midi station and Schiphol airport, which take just 1 hour 34 minutes.
In this way, KLM is responding favourably to a motion tabled last March in the European Parliament. Dutch Parliament on eliminating these flights in favour of transport solutions that emit less CO2. This is in line with the growing environmental concerns of governments and its customers, but also of more and more companies. The advantage for KLM, however, is that the eventual abolition of these short flights will make it possible touse available air slots from Schiphol to open or increase services to other destinations long-haul.
