More flexibility for cancelling reservations on Austrian trains

Since 17 April, Austrian railway company ÖBB has been offering greater flexibility for cancelling bookings.

The Austrian railways ÖBB continue to work on make their rail services easier to use for their customers. The railway company has just introduced greater flexibility for long-distance passengers with an option to cancel their seat reservations.

Travellers can manage their reserved seats with complete confidence. That's right, the ÖBB guaranteein the event of a setback, a refund up to one day before departure. This cancellation option applies to all bookings. from 17 April. And this, whatever travel class you choose1st and 2nd class as well as Business.

However, a cancellation fee applieswhich varies over time. So for a cancellations made between 180 days and 15 days before departure, the ÖBB undertakes to reimburse 100% of the price of the reservation.For cancellations made between 14 days and 1 day before departureÖBB reimburse 50% price of the reservation.

Simplified reimbursement

From just €3, it is possible to reserve a seat on ÖBB domestic routes up to 180 days in advance. Reservations can be made online using the ÖBB application or in the ÖBB ticket shop. It can be made as soon as the journey is booked or after purchase. Cancellations can be made via the online application or the shop.oebbtickets.at website. Refunds are also possible via the contact form at oebb.at/kontakt.

And finally.., refunds at ticket offices are made in cash, by bank transfer or by issuing a voucher.However, the ÖBB states that it is unable to reimburse cancellations made on the day of travel. This is mainly due to the time needed for the technology to register the passenger's request.
