Modernising and renewing the tracks on the French and Swiss networks will result in changes to services on theFrance-Switzerland axis in 2024. According to the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), TGVs running on the Paris-Geneva-Lausanne will be affected by the works.
The renewal of tracks in Switzerland between Denges and Renens in the Canton of Vaud will result in the construction of suspension of the Paris-Geneva-Lausanne TGV line. Passengers will have to change trains at Geneva station to get to Lausanne. This change will be in force from 29 June to 18 August 2024, at the height of the Paris Olympic Games. Visit SBB guarantee that the total journey time will remain the same as with a direct TGV. The Paris-Lausanne TGV line via Vallorbe, on the other hand, will not see any changes to its services.. From 10 December 2023 to 7 July 2024, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidaysRegioExpress trains on the Frasne-Pontarlier-Berne route will connect with TGVs to and from Paris. They will leave Berne at 6.23am and arrive in Paris at 11.08am. In the opposite direction, departure from Paris at 17:56 for arrival in Berne at 22:30.
Finally, it should be noted that SBB are introducing a new booking system which will affect the services available for sale on the Swiss railways' online site.. Migration to a new site will no longer make it possible to reserve individual places until spring 2024 on the website. However, it will still be possible to book a seat using the SBB Mobile application.
