Unveiled by UNIMEV in spring 2024, the Cléo Carbone footprint calculator has been endorsed by the Association pour la Transition Bas Carbone (ABC). Following a six-month audit covering 27 criteria divided into four main areas - technical and methodological framework, carbon support, transparency of sources and communication - this calculator developed by Kabaun has been recognised as compliant with the Bilan Carbone method.
This reinforces the legitimacy of the solution offered by UNIMEV to its members for defining the carbon footprint of their companies and their clients' events, based on data that can be compared and consolidated between all the players in the events chain run by Unimev. " This recognition confirms our determination to provide the industry with a rigorous, collective reference tool. "These were the words of UNIMEV co-presidents Béatrice Cuif-Mathieu and Philippe Pasquet.
While the Cleo Carbone calculator meets this objective, AFNOR is also working on standardisation. The French body is the driving force behind the technical committee dedicated to the event industry, known as ISO/TC 354 "Event Management", recently set up by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
In this context, AFNOR is calling on professionals to join the movement to build a single global framework aimed at harmonising practices in the sector. Responsible practices in line with the ISO 20121 standard, the development of international standards dedicated to the events sector, responses to the major challenges that major events can face in terms of security, ticketing, crisis management and data protection: the technical committee's mission is to structure the sector by defining a common international reference framework for the entire profession and for all types of events, from trade fairs and congresses to festivals and sports competitions.
