Rail travel across the Channel is set to be severely disrupted again in the near future... A vast strike action was made official by the union ASLEFwhich claims to represent 96% train drivers in England, Scotland and Wales. The walkout will start at 0:00 on the morning of Thursday 15 September and will last until 23:59.
No fewer than twelve rail operators are affected by this pay action: Avanti West Coast, Chiltern, Cross Country, Greater Anglia, Great Western Railways, Hull, LNER, London Overground, Northern, Southeastern, Transpennine Express and West Midlands Trains.
" We regret that, once again, passengers are being inconvenienced. "says ASLEF General Secretary Mick Whelan. " We don't want to strike - withdrawing our work, although a fundamental human right, is always a last resort for a union - but the rail companies have forced our hand. "he adds.
