Vietnam reauthorises international flights by its carriers

Since 1st Aprilthe Vietnamese airlines once again authorised to operate international flightsThe number is admittedly very limited.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) released the information at the end of March. The CAAV then submitted a three-stage plan to the Ministry of Transport for the reopening of international flights. In the first phase, only persons authorised to travel to Vietnam may purchase an international air ticket.

This ticket must be part of a package.. As well as the plane ticket, this includes the COVID-19 test, quarantine, hotel expenses and a transfer vehicle from the airport to the quarantine hotels.

The second phase should begin in July, with the resumption of scheduled flights for all passengers.. After their arrival, all passengers - foreign or Vietnamese - must undergo quarantine. In a third phase, scheduled for September, the country will authorise visitors with a vaccination passport. Quarantine will no longer be compulsory.

Return of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet

Initially, the country will allow connections from Vietnam to Australia, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Let 24 flights a weekwith a capacity of 7,000 passengers.

Vietnam Airlines has announced the resumption of its international services from Hanoi to Tokyo Narita, Seoul and Sydney, as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Sydney. The airline is currently offering one or two weekly flights to each destination.

Low cost Vietjet has also resumed its flights since the beginning of the month from HCMV to Bangkok and from Hanoi to Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo-Narita. Regular charter flights are also planned.

Note that the new international company Bamboo Airways has received authorisation from fly to London. Present before the covid crisis in Prague, the carrier wants to launch three flights a week from Hanoi and Saigon respectively to London Heathrow. The private carrier would like to start flights next May.
