W Hotels: a new icon in Sydney

Unique architecture, a festive atmosphere, design: W Sydney has just opened its doors in the bustling Darling Harbour district.

The bay of Sydney has been enriched by a new architectural jewel. The Australian metropolis was obviously famous for its opera house. Perhaps one day it will be known for another iconic building, the RibbonIts curved, futuristic silhouette rises above the bustling Darling Harbour district. Designed by the famous Australian architectural firm Hassell, the building includes an IMAX cinema, restaurants and other party venues, and above all a hotel Wthe the largest hotel in the world for Marriott's lifestyle brand.

Well, you could say that, as delays have been piling up on this project, mainly due to the bankruptcy of its initial developer, Probuild. George Fleck, global brand manager for W Hotels, is delighted: " W Sydney marks the triumphant return of our W Hotels brand to Sydney, a long-awaited addition our solid portfolio in Australia, following our recent debuts in Melbourne and Brisbane" .

Those who are familiar with the brand will find its fundamentals here, with a sharp designIn this case, the interiors were designed by London studio Bowler James Brindley. A lively lobby, a Living Room punctuated by an electric blue circular bar: the festive atmosphere is also present, especially as the establishment has other bars and restaurants. These include BTWN, which focuses on local cuisine and New South Wales produce, 2AM, a dessert bar open late for sweet after-dinner drinks, and 29/30, a two-level bar by the pool at 29.e on the first floor and specialising in cocktails and vintage champagnes on the upper floor.

With its 30-metre outdoor infinity pool, spa and gym, the W Sydney is counting on its relaxation facilities to attract customers, as well as its 588 rooms of the W Sydney, including 162 suites, with their marine decor, white and blue colour palette and undulating walls echoing the sails of the yachts in the marina below. But the hotel also has other pleasures in store for business travellers. Next door to the International Convention Centre, the W Sydney also has its own 1300 m² event space, with eight multi-purpose rooms including the Great Room, a 592 m² ballroom. Guaranteed pillarless, but with city views.
