It's a service that business travellers are sure to appreciate. From the 22 Aprilthe first Boeing 737-800s of the Dutch airline KLM are offering an internet service via wi-fi. This technology will be installed on a number of aircraft in the Boeing 737 fleet.
This is a new step in connecting aircraft. For several years now, KLM has been offering the wifi on its long-haul routes. These include the Boeing 787 and Airbus A330. 81% aircraft in the long-haul fleet are now equipped with. The company is expected to reach 100% in the first quarter of 2022, with the installation of wi-fi on Boeing 777s.
On short-haul routes, KLM expects the entire Boeing 737-800 fleet to benefit from Wi-Fi by the end of the year. The widespread use of wif-fi is part of a strategy to improve on-board services. Internet connections are made possible by the Viasat European satellite.

During the flight, KLM offers a choice of three Internet packages : Messaging, Surfing and Streaming. Messaging allows passengers to send and receive messages free of charge via WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat and more. Those wishing to use more data can pay and select Surf or Stream. Stream allows you to make online purchases or read news. Surf is for travellers who want to watch films.
KLM Portal: more flexibility and control over your journey
Passengers can buy Internet packages via the KLM portal during their flight. This provides access not only to the Internet, but also to upgrades for connecting and return flights. It also makes it possible to managing flight delays or cancellations or book tourist activities or hotels.
Passengers who risk missing their connecting flight because of a delay can book their next flight at a later departure time via the KLM portal. And an economy class passenger who wants to travel in economy comfort on the return journey can plan it himself. Access to the portal is free.
