Swiss will open its new Swiss Business and Senator Lounges at its main Zurich hub in the first quarter of 2027.
The two lounges will cover an area of some 2,600 square metres, representing approximately 20 % of additional space compared with the Swiss airline’s current lounges. The two new lounges will be located at Pier B and will replace the current lounges at Pier (Dock) A.
It's a fact, Swiss has little choice: the airport is going to replace the somewhat aging Pier A with a new building. As part of this, Swiss is therefore transferring the Business and Senator Lounges from Dock A to a new building erected on the south side of Dock B. Both lounges will each occupy an entire floor.
Offering more light and space, passengers will benefit from greater opportunities to relax and work, a calm, premium lounge experience, and a unique panoramic view of the apron, runways and the Alps.
" With these new lounges, we are making targeted investments in the travel experience of our passengers at our Zurich hub ", says Heike Birlenbach, Chief Customer Officer of SWISS. " More space, with different zones for working and relaxing, as well as an unobstructed view of the air traffic, combine comfort with a typically Swiss feel "she explains.
More space and distinctive accents
More seating in each lounge as well as a total of around 20 fully soundproofed workstations for business travellers: this is what the airline promises. In addition, in the Swiss Senator Lounge, a bar located directly along the glass facade is set to become the main attraction with a 180-degree view of Runway 34, the tarmac and the mountains. A maturation room dedicated to a selection of cheese and cold meat specialities will complete the offering.
Bus boarding gates will now be located directly beneath the lounge building. For some passengers, this will shorten the journey to the boarding gate.
Due to upcoming modernisation work at the airport, a relocation of the Swiss First and HON Circle lounges is also being planned, presumably around 2028.
Renovation work at Zurich Airport includes the construction of a new Dock A from 2030, which will be built to the north of the current dock, with the latter remaining in service until its demolition. This transformation is deemed necessary by the airport management, who consider that Dock A and the adjoining control tower have reached the end of their lifespan after 35 years of use.
