As part of the general measures to reduce semi-confinement in France, the French Polynesia is returning to a little more normality. Until 30 April, only travellers from mainland France can enter Polynesia with a overriding reason. This includes travel for health, work, family and home.
La Polynesia has succeeded in controlling the pandemic. Between January 1 and April 25, the number of positive cases recorded rose slightly. On 26 April, it stood at 18,700 cases, two thousand more than on 1 January. There have been no new deaths since 8 March.
Compulsory entry form
The High Commission in French Polynesia has put in place very strict health controls. All travellers to and from French Polynesia must apply to enter the country. at a minimum 6 days before departure. Three days before boarding, travellers undergo an RT-PCR screening test and must register on Polynesia's Electronic Travel Information System (ETIS). They must also complete a quarantine application at a dedicated centre or at home.
The passenger must produce the results of these procedures when boarding. On arrival at the airport, the passenger will be seated in strict isolation for 10 days. They must then undergo two additional PCR tests on days 4 and 8.
From 1 May, some of these restrictions will no longer apply for travellers who have been vaccinated or immunised (with proof of a serological test proving the presence of antibodies). They must undergo an antigen test on arrival in Tahiti and undergo a virological test on day 4. Registration on the ETIS platform remains compulsory. However, this can be done up to 30 days before departure. In return, the High Commission issues a boarding permit.
For the time being, only French, European Union and US nationals benefit from this relief. The other nationalities remain subject to the old restrictions. These new conditions and formalities apply only to Americans (tourism) and Americans (travel). travellers from mainland France and other countries arriving for compelling reasons (health, family, work). However, other opening measures could be adopted if the pandemic situation stabilises.
