Caution for the rest of the year

The year 2026 began in a difficult context, marked by geopolitical instability leading to high fuel prices. Brussels Airlines also had to contend with an Ebola outbreak in East Africa and social unrest in Belgium, leading to strikes by external partners. These various factors led to a negative result for the first six months of 2026.

Nevertheless, thanks to record results in the third quarter, Brussels Airlines now shows a positive result since the beginning of the year, even though many uncertainties persist. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Brussels Airlines was again affected by an external strike, resulting in the cancellation of several flights and a financial impact for the company. However, demand remains strong, which is a positive sign.

Faced with persistent pressure linked to the additional costs of fuel, the company maintains its various cost optimization measures. However, strategic investments in its products continue as planned, including the deployment of Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi across its entire fleet, the complete renovation of its flagship lounge at Brussels Airport, and the introduction of new cabin interiors.

On the network side, the carrier is densifying its routes towards the northern part of Europe. Three new connections will start in December. Brussels Airlines will connect Kittila from December 10 with three flights per week on the Airbus A320; followed on December 25 by two weekly frequencies to Kemi, also on the A320; finally, for one month, between February 6 and March 6, 2027, the company will offer a weekly flight to Harstad-Narvik/Evenes on the A320neo..

Finally, with the summer season starting on March 29, Brussels Airlines will inaugurate a new line to Cairo, At a frequency of five weekly flights, also on an Airbus A320neo.
