From 2025, the Monegasque principality's convention centre, which hosts around a hundred events and 250,000 visitors a year, will have41,000 m2 of indoor spaceIn addition, the Grimaldi Forum will have 2,000 m2 of landscaped outdoor areas, compared with the current 35,000 m2. While the Grimaldi Forum currently has three auditoriums and seven spaces, this extension will bring the total to ten exhibition and catering spaces by 2025The number of sub-commission rooms will rise to 40, compared with 22 today.
Based on versatile, modular spaces, this extension will further increase the range of possibilities for professional meetings in Monaco. Connected to the existing building by a direct link to the Diaghilev exhibition hall, this anticipated development is divided into three zones, starting with the 1,031 m2 Galerie Diaghilev, which will be able to accommodate almost 370 m2 of stand space.
With an independent outside entrance on the seafront, the extension is completed, still on the seafront and running alongside the existing building, by the Carré and the Salles du Patio. These daylight-filled spaces, covering almost 1,500 m2, can be used either for stands or divided into eight meeting rooms for 376 people in theatre format. The capacity for meetings and conferences will also be enhanced by the Pinède hall, which can accommodate up to 10 modular meeting rooms each accommodating 80 people in theatre configuration. With a surface area of 3,180 m2, this hall is also ideal for setting up stands, but above all for large-scale gala dinners. In catering configuration, the hall can seat up to 1,650 people.
In terms of events, the Grimaldi Forum takes advantage of its location on the shores of the Mediterranean to offer outdoor spaces with viewsThese include the future 585 m2 Ravel terrace. There will also be a new 100 m2 Indigo terrace, a 335 m2 patio and a 375 m2 covered patio, as well as the 600 m2 Emeraude forecourt, where the extension's independent entrance will be located.
This major development is part of the emergence of a new eco-neighbourhood, Mareterra. This project, launched by the Monegasque government, will see the construction of a 6-hectare marina, housing, shops and restaurants, punctuated by pine forests and green spaces. An environment in line with the sustainable ambitions of the Grimaldi Forum. ISO 14001 certified since 2008, the convention centre will be equipped with 1,500 photovoltaic panels in 2019 to supply energy to the surrounding buildings and, soon, this new district.
