With a simplified Miles & More programme, all Lufthansa Group airlines will offer their passengers a more understandable and transparent points system for obtaining and maintaining Frequent Traveller, Senator and HON Circle status. Changes must be made when booking flights from 1st January 2024.
A new "Frequent Traveller for Life" status
In the future, members of Miles & More will receive points instead of status miles for their flights. The number of points obtained on a flight depends on just two criteria: the class of travel and whether it is a continental or intercontinental flight.
The most important new feature is the creation of a "Frequent Traveller Status for Life".. It will be offered alongside the existing Senator Status for Lifetime for the most loyal customers or VIPs. The two statuses will therefore be available in parallel.
Another new feature: a status points system will replace the status miles awarded until now. Points can be collected - as before status miles - from all Star Alliance airlines.
However, to obtain the "Frequent Traveller Status for Life" under the new programme, in future you will have to operate more flights on Lufthansa Group airlines (Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Eurowings Discover, Air Dolomiti). Or you can choose airline partners who are Miles & More co-issuers. The basis for calculating status is the sum of all the points earned on these flights.
HON Circle members will continue to qualify for this status exclusively on flights operated by the aforementioned airlines, in business and first class.
No change to the collection of bonus miles
The validity of the status will be simplified for everyone. It will now be valid for at least one year.. The period for collecting the required points will extend over one calendar year for each frequent flyer status.
The awarding of Miles & More award miles, however, remains unchanged. Award miles are miles that can be accumulated by travelling on flights, renting a car, booking a hotel stay and on a wide range of services.
