CitizenM: a fifth hotel opens in Paris, among other projects

CitizenM is adding a fifth address in Paris, in the Opéra district, with a hotel as always dotted with design objects and contemporary works. It's an opening that will soon be followed by others, notably in the United States.

Why did they kill Jaurès? Like Jacques Brel, guests at CitizenM Paris Opéra may well ask themselves the same question as they pass the infamous Bistrot du Croissant on the corner of their hotel. Or maybe they won't be asking themselves the same question at all. The days when great men were murdered are long gone - though - and the atmosphere in this a new hotel in tune with the times is enough to appreciate the present.

A pioneer in this new wave of hotels since its launch in Amsterdam in 2008, the Dutch brand now has just over thirty hotels worldwide. Including five in Paris with this opening in addition to the CitizenM Paris CDG, La Défense, Gare de Lyon and Champs-Elysées. This Parisian network - pending a future hotel near Porte Maillot - is now completed by the Opéra district, right next to the Grands Boulevards.

Located on rue du Croissant, the CitizenM Paris Opéra brightens up this quiet street in the 2nd arrondissement with its contemporary façade. A colourful entry point for this hotel with a sophisticated designAs is customary for this brand, its establishments are always identical in a sense, with their small rooms but XL beds, their high-tech accent and their lifestyle offer at light prices. And yet the hotels are always different, marking their distinctiveness with a wealth of design objects found here and there and works from the collection of the group's founder, Rattan Chahda. Among the works on the walls of the CitizenM Paris Opéra, Collage IIby Florian and Michael Quistrebert.

CitizenM hotels around the world also feature collaborations with local artists, and the Paris Opéra hotel is no exception. Originally from Montmartre, Amélie Bertrand has made the staircase leading down to the heart of the hotel her own, composing an 18 m long graphic walldecorated with multicoloured water lilies. The work of art sets the tone for this living room, where you can work and relax while enjoying the range of snacks and drinks on offer at CanteenM, which is open at all hours of the day and night.

Furnished with sofas, high or round tables, and a large guest table where you can put your computer, this living space is organised around a small patio that acts as a skylight, while waiting to be planted with vegetation. On the sides of this communal space are also two meeting roomsSocietyM, which can accommodate 9 and 12 people. As for accommodation, the CitizenM Paris Opéra, the result of the conversion of a former police station, offers 84 rooms on its six floors, the smallest total in the chain.

This new 'boutique' address in the heart of Paris is part of the Group's drive to establish a foothold in the heart of Paris. premium locations. While the first CitizenMs attracted business travellers to convenient locations - Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris CDG airports, for example - the brand is clearly focusing on the best locations in the world's major cities. This is where its interpretation of affordable luxury can make all the difference to the competition, for both business and leisure travellers.

In Europe, the brand can be found at the corner of the Champs-Elysées, rue du Rhône in Geneva like the Tower of London. Next year, it will move to near Saint Patrick's Cathedral in Dublinand also in the heart of Rome, on the island of Tiberina. At the same time, as in Paris, CitizenM will have a fifth address in London, with a hotel that forms part of the ongoing transformation of one of the British capital's main convention venues, the more than 100-year-old Olympia Centre. Milan, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stockholm, Barcelona and Madrid: the group has other cities in mind to continue its collection of major European cities.

However, alongside its development on this side of the Atlantic, CitizenM has distinguished itself in recent years by accelerated expansion in the United States. Despite its mini-sized rooms, which are a far cry from local standards, the hotel has caught on. From Boston to WashingtonChicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York, San Francisco and Seattle, the country's largest cities have all been won over by the brand's pop art approach. The catalogue of addresses is still growing, with Austin in its sights next summer.

At the same time, CitizenM is strengthening its network in cities where it already has a presence. For a few weeks now, the brand has been offering a second hotel in MiamiA second hotel will open in Boston, in the upmarket Back Bay district, and a third in Washington DC. By 2024-2025, a second hotel will also be opening in Boston, in the upmarket Back Bay district, as will a third in Washington DC. And in California, CitizenM will be setting up shop at the beginning of next year at Menlo Parkfor the only hotel directly integrated into the Facebook campus. A sort of marshal's baton for this up-to-the-minute brand.
