What does the incentive market in mainland France represent for Martinique?
Madeleine de Granmaison - At the moment, we can reckon on a figure of between 10 % and 15 %, bearing in mind that this percentage includes congresses, seminars, company trips and even visits by sports groups.
What are your plans for business tourism?
M. de G. - In order to stimulate business travel, we have created a Convention and Tourism Bureau, one of whose managers is based in Paris and the other in Martinique. They work for us as service providers, in tandem. The person on the island knows the terrain inside out and can adapt to any requests from Europe, because today it's the whole of Europe that interests us.
What actions have you developed?
M. de G. - Of course we're doing a lot of promotion, we're present at every trade fair, we're going to bring out a new brochure that's much more comprehensive than the previous one and, above all, we want to communicate the fact that there is no high or low season in Martinique. Here, the climate is tropical all year round, and apart from the hurricane season, you can choose between green tourism, seaside tourism and even cultural tourism...
