Le new metro manufactured by Alstom is expected this year. The MF19 will arrive in late 2025 on the line 10more precisely during the autumn. What can we expect from this new metro for getting around Paris? Those in charge of the project emphasise the increased comfort of the MF19This is thanks in particular to its refrigerated ventilation system, which is designed to guarantee "a high level of comfort". ideal temperature in all seasons ". The new metro will also feature ergonomic seats and USB ports. Alstom has also worked on the lighting ambience, with 100 % LED lighting and a "luminous arch at intercirculation level". The comfort of the new metro will also be based on the organisation of the space on board, with a configuration known as the "boa", which should facilitate the circulation and distribution of users. What's more, the flexibility of the MF19 metro will enable it to adapt to changing passenger numbers, with two configurations: "comfort" and "capacity".

The MF19 metro promises to improve traffic flow and passenger distribution

This the ability of the MF19 metro to adapt and anticipate changing needs - on eight lines - is clearly the project's strong point. Its managers explain: "From the outset, all the configurations envisaged were developed. The MF19 can be fitted with 4 or 5 cars and is available in 3 lengths: 61 m (4 cars), 76.1 m (5 cars short version) and 77.5 m (5 cars long version) depending on the length of the platform. It is also available with automatic driving and a driver's cab. The trainsets are also designed to be configurable according to capacity requirements (with more or fewer seats). In addition, the configurations and layouts have been designed to be reversible to adapt to changes on the lines. For example, the driver's cab can be replaced by an automatic cab, and 5-car trains can be converted from a short to a long version - and vice versa".

From an environmental point of view, the new metro trains incorporate 20% of recycled materials, and 98% can be recycled at the end of their life. The MF19 also promises to consume 25% less fuel than the MF77 trains currently in use. The braking 100% electric must also reduce fine-particle emissions.

" These new Alstom metros will have greater capacity, be more accessible, more comfortable, be video-protected, air-conditioned and more environmentally friendly... in short, it's the transport revolution for Paris metro users! It's a real challenge," says Valérie Pécresse, who presides over the region and Ile-de-France Mobilités. Passengers will be able to check at the end of the year whether MF19 lives up to the promises that accompany its arrival. However, the new metro already received its first accolade last year when it was awarded the Janus de l'Industrie label.
