Google Wallet to be launched soon

Google could launch its Google Wallet mobile payment system as early as this week, with the aim of turning the telephone into a new means of payment that is both simple and secure.

Every week brings something new from Google. Just a few days after the launch of Flight Search, the search engine could well be back in the news with the release of Google Wallet, the mobile payment system integrated into smartphones. This electronic wallet using NFC technology was presented by Google last spring. Since then, rumours have been circulating about its actual launch, first in the United States, then internationally. The latest comes from the specialist website TechCrunchGoogle, which predicts that the system will arrive on Monday 19 September, as part of the NFC World Congress. Google Wallet will initially only be available on Nexus S 4G handsets, which are the only ones compatible with the application developed by Google for Android, in partnership with MasterCard. The aim is to make transactions easier for business travellers, by adding a new dimension to their smartphone, while guaranteeing payment security.
