Two interactive terminals have recently been installed on the Terminal 1To be more precise, at Place des Lumières for departures and in the baggage reclaim area for arrivals.
These two virtual agents are based on "agentic" AI technology developed by the start-up Jumbo Mana. In other words, "an artificial intelligence system composed of autonomous agents capable of perceiving their environment, making decisions and acting to achieve specific objectives".
The newLyon airport are designed to improve the passenger experience. This involves guiding passengers around the airport via an interactive map, providing real-time flight information and even suggesting activities to consider in Lyon. The avatar is able to understand a oral request expressed by the passenger, analyse it and then formulate a precise and contextual response, orally and in writing. Multilingual, the virtual agents cover some thirty languages but - "initially" - will only answer questions in French and English.
Those in charge of theLyon airport - also a centre of excellence for innovation at VINCI Airports - are claiming a first in Europe for a 3D avatar capable of informing and answering passengers' questions. " VINCI Airports' Centre of Excellence for the passenger experience, the Lyon Airports make innovation a powerful lever for development and improving the experience of our passengers "Cédric Fechter, Chairman of the Board of Aéroports de Lyon. " Our new virtual agent, based on artificial intelligence, complements the various reception systems and the assistance work carried out by our teams in the terminals, demonstrating the full potential of our services. complementarity between people and new technologies to meet our passengers' expectations ".
