CWT study: business travel in Europe spared by price rises

On Monday, Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) published its business travel price forecasts for 2012. The projections are marked by low price increases in Europe and the United States, unlike in Latin America and Asia.
Business travel prices are set to rise in 2012, according to forecasts published by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) on Monday 17 October. However, travel buyers in Europe should be relatively unaffected by this upward trend. Hotel prices are likely to stabilise next year (+0.2 to +0.9%), as are car rental prices, which could even fall (-1.9 to +2.9%), given the increased competition in this sector. MICE is also expected to fall (-5 to -6%) in Europe and the Middle East according to CWT projections, while increases are expected to be limited in air (+2.1 to 3.7%) and rail (+3.6 to 4.2%).
On the other hand, Latin America is likely to see a surge in business travel prices as a result of regional growth. Hotels are likely to see double-digit increases (+9 to +11.8 % in the first half, up to 12.2% in the second, and even +34% for Brazil).
