French travellers are not interested in Wi-Fi access on planes: this is the surprising conclusion to be drawn from a survey published on Thursday 20 October by the TravelZoo website, based on some telling figures. 95% of travellers questioned believe that connectivity services - Internet connection, telephony - are not really useful. 25% of TravelZoo subscribers in France would even prefer not to travel on flights offering these services. The reason for this massive rejection: the noise and other nuisances that increased connectivity in aircraft could cause. It should be noted that the customers concerned by the study are almost exclusively leisure travellers, who see their flight as a chance to take a break from their usual routine. Another obstacle to the adoption of in-flight connectivity is flight safety, which could be compromised by in-flight connectivity according to 61% of those surveyed. Finally, the fear of higher fares is also holding travellers back, as 81% of them do not want to spend more than €5 per flight to have access to the Internet. The study also highlights the profound differences between the general public across Europe. For example, almost 80% of Spanish travellers would like to be able to access the Internet in flight, unlike the Germans, the British and the French, among whom the refusal dominates at 60%.
