Regarding access, bus and tram links also remained in operation. Having run for a time without intermediate stops between Mérignac Soleil and the airport, tram line F is once again fully operational along its entire route. Similarly, the hotels located in the immediate vicinity of the airport, in the area outside the ring road, which were temporarily closed by prefectural decision, are gradually reopening.
Return of TGV services beyond Bordeaux
But it is above all the fires that have affected the north of the Arcachon basin and the Biscarrosse area since July 25th, which have long disrupted train travel. The presence of fire near the tracks triggered the halt of rail traffic south of the metropolis, with circulation interrupted at the request of the Gironde prefecture between Bordeaux and Arcachon on one side, and between Bordeaux and Morcenx on the other.
The SNCF had then recommended postponing train journeys to the affected areas until 31 July. Consequently, SNCF Voyageurs revised its transport plans with the cancellation of trains between Bordeaux on the one hand and Arcachon, Hendaye or Tarbes via Dax on the other. This resulted in the cancellation of TGVs operating on these routes, as well as Intercités night trains between Paris and Tarbes, and TERs between Bordeaux and Arcachon, and Bordeaux and Morcenx.
This past period, rail traffic will gradually resume south of Bordeaux from Saturday morning with a return to normal planned for Sunday morning. Within this framework, on Saturday 1 August, the service will continue to be normal on the TGV Paris-Bordeaux-Toulouse line, but 1 TGV out of 2 may go as far as Arcachon, while 2 TGV out of 5 are scheduled for Hendaye and 3 out of 4 for Tarbes. TER traffic will be almost normal. And, from Sunday 2 August, all trains will be able to run normally.
