Heathrow Express gets a makeover before the Olympics

The Heathrow Express, used by business travellers to reach London city centre from Heathrow airport, is going to have a new look. Rolling stock, staff uniforms and tickets will all feature a new visual identity ahead of the next Olympic Games.

It will cost more than 19 million euros (£16 million) to give the Heathrow Express a facelift. The rail shuttle linking Heathrow airport to Paddington station will soon be sporting a new look, which should be of particular benefit to business travellers to the British capital: redesigned by Tangerine, which was responsible for the new fully reclining seat for British Airways, the Heathrow Express trains should come close to what is done in the air, particularly in 1era class. Another new feature, and by no means the least, is the introduction of new technologies, allowing passengers to recharge their devices and send e-mails. Large screens will also display flight schedule information. All these improvements will take effect from 26 April - the date on which the new train will be unveiled - while the new Heathrow Express staff uniform will be introduced in July.
